If there isn’t anyone signed up in the last hour for class or practice, we will close by 15 past the hour. Other than Chickpea’s classes, if classes are not booked 24 hours ahead of class time with at least 1 student, the class offering may be deleted.
Our passionate team of Roll Right certified and insured instructors provides In-line and Roller Skate instruction in Oregon. Our collective goal is to help you gain control of your skates so they do what you want them to do. You will learn how to take your skates for a ride instead of lacing up and hoping for the best. We create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment. We’re all dedicated to deliver skate instruction at your pace in a safe and mindful way. We can’t wait to share with you what we know. Skating is therapy for a lot of us and we want you to have access to this joyous therapy too.
We offer a variety of group classes.
Day 1 Survival Skills Not sure where to start? Sign up for class and we'll teach you basic instruction on making it go, making it stop, proper ways to fall, how to prevent from falling. We will talk about the different areas of focus within skating, skates anatomy, how to survive a busy rink, and the different sub cultures within PDX skating. Once you take this class, you will be able to practice in our skate studio at $5/hour. You will have the know how to get started on your skate journey.
Roll Right is the Learn-To-Skate curriculum we use to teach skaters who need to learn and strengthen foundational skate skills. In this class type, we keep class sizes small to provide lots of individual attention in a group class setting.
Footwork Essentials learn individual skate skills to help with your freestyle flow and ability to skate many rhythm skate routines. ie manuals, spins, crossovers, grapevine, crazy legs, pivots, transitions, turns. Come to class and share what you would like to focus on.
Beginner Rhythm Skate Class: In this class you will learn the rhythm and stepping for base "Downtown", base "G-Slide", as well as other entry-level rhythm routines and choreography. You will learn how to follow the leader when to execute moves. We'll keep the tempo mostly slow while working on fluidity and and muscle memory. Join our party and learn how to dance it out on skates!
Int/Adv Rhythm Skate Class In the Int/Adv Rhythm Skate Class at our skate studio in Lloyd Center Mall, participants will master a variety of intermediate and advanced rhythm skating routines and stepping patterns. The class emphasizes group routines, partner skating, and building a library of call outs and variations for base routines "Downtown" & "G-Slide", progressing from half tempo to full tempo.
Middlework, Freestyle & Flow Let's navigate taking the skills you know and practice linking them together in your own freestyle and flow. Come for guided practice working the rhythm of the song finding your musicality for self expression using skills you comfortably have in your wheelhouse.
Strength & Balance for Skaters: Focusing on core and lower body, this fun off-skates workout enhances essential skating stability, skills, and confidence on wheels.
Mobility for Skaters: Enhance your performance, range of motion, and reduce injury risk through a combination of dynamic stretches and targeted mobility off-skates.
Roller Derby Foundations(Quads only): Learn roller derby foundational skills like jukes, whips, and more, building power, agility, and control on wheels for solo or teams..
Hills Skills and Street Hazards we teach you how to navigate slopes and varying terrain for skating outdoors. Once you invest in your gear and know-how, skating can be free. All you need is a smooth & dry surface.
Skate Culture Workshops feature skilled skate instructors from outside of Oregon who teach and share their expertise in various urban skate styles with the PDX community..
Specialty Workshops are 50+ minute workshops with a specific focus lead by an PNW area certified skate instructor.
Clinics are a 30 minute, rapid fire share of the breakdown on the focused skill and the drills to support it. This include a 30 minute practice session immediately after the clinic for you to marinate and play with the ideas shared in the clinic.
Group Classes are drop in and not in a continuous series. There is no beginning nor end and you may get started soon as you are ready.
We also offer private instruction with any of our talented instructors on our team. Please reach out to your preferred instructor to organize a good time and location before booking.
We provide a safe and controlled space at our skate studio in NE Portland for you to practice what you are learning in class.
We have goals to bring safe skate instruction to various neighborhoods in the Portland Metro Area and beyond. Currently you can find our classes in NE & SE Portland, and Beaverton. Come in your protective gear and own skates ready to have a great time.
We are hiring quad and inline support staff and instructors. Support Staff will need to obtain SafeSport and First Aid/CPR certifications for employment with our school. Aspiring Instructors will need to get Beginner and Advanced Roll Right, SafeSport, and First Aid/CPR certifications in order to teach with us.
