Skate Oregon School

With S.O.S. help is on the way!

Please take 15 minutes and watch this before your first class and again after some time as it will all make more sense after some practice.

Our passionate team of Roll Right, Rollerfit, RSA and/or SkateIA certified and insured instructors provides In-line and Roller Skate instruction in Oregon. Our collective goal is to help you gain control of your skates so they do what you want them to do. You will learn how to take your skates for a ride instead of lacing up and hoping for the best. We create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment. We’re all dedicated to deliver skate instruction at your pace in a safe and mindful way. We can’t wait to share with you what we know. Skating is therapy for a lot of us and we want you to have access to this joyous therapy too.

We offer a variety of group classes.

  • Roll Right is the Learn-To-Skate curriculum we use to teach skaters who need to learn and strengthen foundational skate skills. In this class type, we keep class sizes small to provide lots of individual attention in a group class setting. (max. cap. 8 skaters/1 instructor ratio)

  • Rollerfit is the first action-packed Learn-To-Skate roller dance fitness program that caters to ALL AGES & LEVELS of skill and experience.  The roller dance fitness classes are so much fun you’ll forget that you’re working out!!

  • Footwork Essentials is where you learn individual skate skills to help with your freestyle flow and ability to skate many rhythm skate routines. ie manuals, spins, crossovers, grapevine, crazy legs, pivots, transitions, turns.

  • Rhythm Skate Class is where we teach rhythm skating choreography, base routines and call-outs (variations off of the base), common stepping and gliding patterns, how to follow the leader, partner skating and more.

  • Hills Skills and Street Hazards where we teach you how to navigate slopes and varying terrain for skating outdoors.

  • Skate Culture Workshops are where we organize for talented skate instructors in the urban skate culture scene to breakdown and educate what they specialize in to our PDX community.

  • Specialty Workshops are a 50 min workshop with a specific focus lead by an PNW area certified skate instructor.

  • Clinics are a 30 minute, rapid fire share of the breakdown of the skill and drills to support it.

Classes are drop in and not in a continuous series. There is no beginning nor end and you may get started soon as you are ready.

Bootcamps are a 4 week/8 class commitment where you will be with the same group learning the same skills together.

We also offer private instruction with any of our talented instructors on our team. Please reach out to your preferred instructor to organize a good time and location before booking.

We provide a safe and controlled space at our skate studio in NE Portland for you to practice what you are learning in class.

We have goals to bring safe skate instruction to various neighborhoods in the Portland Metro Area and beyond. Currently you can find our classes in NE Portland, and Beaverton. Come in your protective gear and own skates ready to have a great time.

We are hiring quad and inline instructors. You will need to get either Roll Right or Rollerfit certified, in order to teach with us. You will also need your safesport and cpr/first aid certificates in order to lead a class at Skate Oregon School LLC. Reach out to us if you are interested in teaching with us and set up an interview.

Upcoming skate studio closure.
